bought of my brother Richard Smith and wife, which tract they may convey
to the said Henry Mershon.
My son James, by being heir-at-law to his mother, will take all her lands
in N. J. and 2/5 parts of her estate in Pennsylvania by which he will have
more than my other children, yet he being my eldest son, I give him 1000
acres, conveyed to me by Thomas Wharton, in the Otego Tract, and numbered
on the Map 26. To my son-in-law William Dillwyn, lot No. 50 in said tract.
Daughter Hannah Smith, 6,000 acres, part of 18,000 acres, near the head of
the east Branch of Susquehanna River, conveyed to me by Governor Franklin
and wife; also house and lot on Pearl Street, Burlington, which I bought
of Ann and Samuel Shaw, after the expiration of my lease to Edward and
Rachel Cathral; also a lot on York Street Burlington, which I bought of
Ann Carlile; also a lot in Germantown, Penna.; also the jewelry that
was her mother's. Son, John Smith, my dwelling house and lot in Burlington
which is described in a deed from my sister Elizabeth Smith, to me; also
the lots in Burlington, which came to my share in the division of the
purchase made by several of us of James Hamilton, Esq. and are described
in the deed from Richard Wells; also 8000 acres, part of 12,000 acres in
Albany Co., New York conveyed to me by Governor Franklin and wife.
Granddaughter Susan Dillwyn, 6000 acres, part of the 18,000; also 4 acres
of meadow in Burlington which I bought of her father. To Grace Buchanan
for her faithful services, 100 pounds, and if she continues in my service
till my decease, another 50 lbs. My father charged an annuity of 20 lbs.
to my friend Sarah Morris, and I have sold Red Hill Farm, on which it was
charged, so now I order the same to be paid out of the estate given to my
son John. Sister, Elizabeth, a horse. Aunt, Martha Barker, 20lbs. To
Joseph Marriot, 10 lbs. The residue I gave to my son John, and my
daughter and granddaughter. I desire my Executors to not charge more than
200 lbs. for the management of the money belonging to John Pole's estate.

purchased from Richard Smith 1752 May 4.
Wit: Constantine Smith, Abigail Smith. End: 1803/09/30 by Eli Budd. Both
grantors present. [Note that on the same day in 1803 other deeds were
presented to be recorded. 5:531 transferred half of this plot from
Jesse Smith to David Champion. 5:536 transferred the rest of the lot to
Hezekiah Steelman. A further recitation says that Richard Smith obtained
the land from the West Jersey Society on 1746/03/10. The Champion deed
said this was in 1467, but that is obviously in error.]
Grantor: Jeremiah and wife Naomi Smith of Great Egg Harbor
Grantee: Jesse Smith.
Transaction: #64 for 75 acres.
Description: White oak by Cape May road "half a mile from a place called
tarkill bridge."...pine on north side of small pond...along "oald Cape May
