at the house where my son Charles Johnson is to have, to occupy as she

Son Joseph Johnson plantation whereon he now lives to him, his heirs
and assigns (except what is otherwise disposed of). Dimensions outlined.
To Grandson Benjamin Johnson a piece of land described in will. If he
dies without issue, it goes to grandson Samuel Johnson.
To grandson Joseph Cook that piece of land lying between the old

the estate of Amos Ireland, Esqr., deceased, to Nathaniel Sipple by
deed bearing date 1784.

Absecon Mills in Galloway Township was a sawmill. In 1791 Abner Doughty
bought Joseph Ball's half interest in the sawmill. Joseph Ball had owned
this mill in partnership with Richard Price. In March 1811, Abner Doughty
received a deed for all the real estate of Richard Price, deceased, at a
sheriff's sale. On December 20, 1812, Abner was sold out by the sheriff,
and his three sons paid the debt of $405 at the sale and became the owners
of the sawmill and other property. (Sarah W. R. Ewing and Robert McMullin

Greeting.
Whereas Barbara Johnson, late of the Township of Hopewell in the
County of Cumberland and State of New Jersey, dec. died seized in her
demesneas of fee? in a certain plantation situate in Hopewell, aforesaid,
which devised to her five sons John Johnson, Daniel Johnson, David Johnson
George Johnson and Samuel Johnson from reference to her last will and
testament which bears date the twentieth seventh day of June in the year
of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety .. had will fully
appear. Now know Ye that we John Johnson, Daniel Johnson, David Johnson
and George Johnson have released and conferred and do release and confirm
unto their brother, the above named Samuel Johnson, his heirs and assigns
a piece of land, which was devised to him, in, and by, the above mentioned
will and testament, it being the remainder, after several devises, and is
bounded as follows, viz., Beginning a stone set in the middle of the run
of Stretches branch, a little below the overgoing, a little above John
Gosling's house, and is a corner of Daniel Johnson's land, thence bounding
thereon South six degrees and a half West, 102 perches to a stone set for
a corner of David Johnson's land, thence bounding thereon and on lands of
George Johnson's, North eighty six degrees East, 82 perches to a stone in
line of Lewis Donzenbaker's land, thence bounding thereon and on lands of
Lawrence Cooper's land, North three degrees and 3/4 West, 170 perches and
a half to a stone fit for a corner of Johnson's land, thence bounding
thereon South sixty three degrees West, 59 perches to a stone, thence
still by John Johnson's land, North 40 degrees and a half West, eight
perches to the middle of the run aforesaid, thence up the same bounding
thereon the several courses thereof to the place of beginning containing
forty seven acres of land and swamp be the same more or less. To have and
to hold all the said piece of land and swamp with the appurtenances unto
the said Samuel Johnson, his heirs and assigns, to their proper use and
and behoof, forever, so that neither of us the said John Johnson, Daniel
Johnson, David Johnson and George Johnson, or any other person or persons
for us, or in our names, or in the name, right or stead of any of us shall
not will by any ways or means hereafter claim, challenge, or demand any
right, title, or interest of in, or to the said premises, or any part or
parcel thereof, ourselves and each and every of our heirs, executors and
and administrators, shall be utterly excluded and debarred forever by
these presents. And we the said John Johnson, Daniel Johnson, David
Johnson and George Johnson do severally and apart and not jointly and for
our several and respective heirs, executors and administrators the said
piece of land and swamp, with the appurtances, unto the said Samuel
Johnson, his heirs and assigns, to his and their proper use and behoof as
aforesaid, against us, the said John Johnson, Daniel Johnson, David
Johnson and George Johnson and every other person and persons whatsoever
claiming to claim by form, or under us, or either of us the same shall and
will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof, we
the said John Johnson, Daniel Johnson, David Johnson and George Johnson,
have hereunto set their hands and seals the 24th day of May in the year of
our Lord, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Six.
