in two lines it says "had by his wife" so he was married.
He paid by 5400 "shingels" so he was in the sawmill business somewhere when this was written after 1773 November 27, the year Thomas Ireland's estate supposedly put the Deep Run Mill out to rent.
43: Thomas Champion also paid in "bords" and "shingels." By 1773 Nov 25.
43: Mary Ireland had an account by the same day and paid in "sedar bords" and by a cow and calf.

There are tons of Townsends and Corsons in this list, so that will have
to wait until I transcribe the entire list. Sounds like a good project
for the Gazette. We have lots of Townsend and Corson connections. Glenn

Subject: Robert Doughty
According to the appendix of "Oley Valley Heritage" available in the
Berks Co. section of the GloucCoHistSoc.
Other Monmouth County landholders
in Amity: Gershan Mott (see Lucretia Mott), and Thomas Edwards. Thomas
Rutter (Ritter, etc.), Jr. & Sr., owned lots #35 & #36 where they
managed Pine Forge. Timothy Brandreth, Jr., of Egg Harbor, was
apparently apprenticed there after his father died fairly young in
1714/15. In 1728 Timothy, to whom my mother traces, ran away from the
ironworks as was advertised in the Weekly Mercury. Rutter took out the
ad. His mother was Sarah Holmes, grand-daughter of Obadiah Holmes to
whom Abraham Lincoln also traces.
1750 in Oley Twp., we find John Lincoln and Anthony Morris. The
latter hid out for three days so he wouldn't have to be mayor of
Philadelphia.
1750 in nearby Exeter, Mordecai Lincoln owned land (Abe's ggfather),
and by 1775, Exeter had Abraham, Thomas, and Mordecai Lincoln. These
guys were from Monmouth County, too. (This Abraham is the President's
grandfather, I believe. Would this Thomas be his father or uncle? Hmmm.)
From bingham@jaguarsystems.com 1998 Jun 09 14:51:24 Tue
Dotscott@aol.com wrote: The Lincoln family has connection to Salter of
Monmouth County. My cousin's husband is descended from same line as
Lincoln and believe Bob Edwards has connection there too.
Oh, yes. And Honest Abe has a Morris in his pedigree, too. Glenn

1815 Dec 17 Endorsed by Stephen Willis
Commentary: 20090128 GJB76
David Ireland got from George Ireland 1810July4 George Ireland's
transfer is in R:466 (1810) and reads identically with the bounds (except
it says "Elihu Lee"), as George and wife Mary sold to David for $400.
George got from Andrew Steelman 1790, originally 100.25 acres; he from
Samuel Mickle; he from Hannah Ladd, she the widow of John Ladd.
Witnesses: John Steelman & John Parsons (spelled "Pearsons" in
endorsement, although he was not present, only Steelman 1813 Jun 15).
George Ireland also sold land to Japhet Ireland, so this might be a
family group to explore for origins of David Ireland.
This is one of the lots Thomas Doughty gave in his
will to his wife, Prudence (nee Parsons), and Joseph &
Moses Doughty.
Andrew Corson formerly lived in the vicinity of Thomas Doughty, but had
moved to Cumberland County by this time. He had a granddaughter
(daughter?) who married a Drummond.
The clerk made an effort to copy the always-large and wild signature of
Stephen Willis.
The Weatherbys lived at Head of the River, as did Smiths.
n. 1816 Gloucester County Court Records, Affidavit #1210. From GJB 2000/07/26
William Lee of Philadelphia complains that David Ireland owes him $443.93
"+ upwards" and should not be released from debtor's prison because of his
behavior. Lee testified that "he verily believes that the said David
Ireland has acted in collusion with Thomas Doughty (his father-in-law) in
conveying and transferring his real-estate to the said Thomas Doughty for
the purpose of enabling the said David Ireland to take the oath of
affirmation required by Law in support of his application [to be
released]."
In other words, to avoid paying his debts and appealing to be released
from prison because he has no means to pay Lee (and maybe others), David
Ireland transferred his property to his father-in-law, Thomas Doughty.
Or so says Lee.
It appears that this is the Thomas Doughty (m. Prudence Parsons) of
Hamilton Township. He named a daughter Lydia Ireland in his will, so she
must be the wife of David Ireland, mentioned above. How did this turn out?
Well, two of the lots that passed from Thomas to his sons Joseph and Moses
at his death were a 50-acre (located on a Hartman map) and a 55-acre lot,
both acquired from David Ireland. Looks like Willie Lee came up short.
Now the Catherine Ireland who lived with Reuben Doughty in Franklin
Township in 1850 was born about 1787. Might she be a sister (or something)
to David Ireland? (Reuben was born c1818. Maybe he and William C. were
sons of Moses Doughty? William C.'s eldest was "Catherine.")
